POST - TREATMENT GUIDANCE
-
Hands Off Please:
Avoid touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to the treated area for at least 2 weeks. This includes avoiding facial massages or resting your face against hard surfaces, as pressure can interfere with how the filler settles. -
Minimise Strenuous Activity:
For the first 24 to 48 hours, avoid intense physical activity or anything that significantly increases blood flow to the face, such as cardio workouts or hot yoga. This helps to reduce swelling and bruising. -
Cool Compress if Needed:
You may gently apply a cold compress or ice pack wrapped in a clean cloth to the treated area during the first 24 hours to reduce swelling, bruising, or discomfort. Do not apply ice directly to the skin or press firmly. -
Avoid Excessive Heat Exposure:
Please avoid hot environments such as saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, or hot baths for at least 48 hours post-treatment. Heat can exacerbate swelling and potentially affect the outcome. -
No Alcohol for 24 Hours:
Refrain from drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours after your procedure. Alcohol may increase the likelihood of bruising and swelling. -
Sleep Elevated:
To minimise swelling overnight, try sleeping with your head slightly elevated using an extra pillow or wedge. Avoid lying face down or applying pressure to the treated area while you rest. -
Follow Your Practitioner’s Instructions:
If your injector has provided any additional or personalised advice, please follow those instructions carefully. These may include recommendations for skincare or medication. -
Attend All Follow-Up Appointments:
Please attend any scheduled follow-up appointments. These allow your practitioner to assess your results, monitor your healing, and make any necessary refinements to your treatment plan.
Expected Post-Treatment Effects
Some temporary side effects are normal following filler treatment. These may include:
-
Swelling:
Swelling typically begins immediately or within a few hours of treatment. It can last for several days, and in some cases up to a week, depending on the type of filler used and individual response. -
Bruising:
Bruising is a common response and may appear as small, localised areas of discolouration. Bruising usually resolves within 7 to 14 days. -
Redness or Inflammation:
Mild redness or warmth around the injection site is normal and should fade within a few hours to a couple of days. -
Tenderness or Sensitivity:
The treated area may feel mildly sore or tender to the touch. This is typically short-lived and should ease gradually over several days. -
Itching or Tightness:
Some clients experience a mild itching sensation or a feeling of tightness in the area. These effects are usually temporary and self-resolving. -
Lumpiness or Uneven Texture:
You may notice a slight unevenness or lumpiness in the treated area immediately post-treatment. This often settles as the filler integrates with the surrounding tissue over the coming days. -
Mild Discolouration:
Occasionally, the treated area may appear slightly bluish due to superficial bruising (known as the Tyndall effect). This is temporary and will resolve as the bruising heals. -
Rare but Important Considerations:
While complications are uncommon, it's important to remain alert for any unusual or severe symptoms. These may include significant or worsening pain, excessive swelling, signs of infection (such as heat or discharge), or changes in skin colour that appear dusky or white. In rare cases, these may signal a vascular occlusion, which requires urgent attention.
